The Algerian Oak typically grows to 20 m tall and 10 m wide with a rounded, open growth habit. The foliage emerges light green in spring, ages to dark green, then develops impressive orange and red tones in autumn before falling. Small, yellow-green flowers in spring produce brown acorns in autumn. Quercus afares is commonly grown as a specimen in large gardens and parks where it will provide wonderful summer shade and fabulous autumn colours.

The Algerian Oak typically grows to 20 m tall and 10 m wide with a rounded, open growth habit.
