Quercus castaneifolia, Chestnut Leaved Oak, Chestnut Leaf Oak, Chestnut Oak Tree Leaf
Quercus castaneifolia, commonly known as the Chestnut Leaved Oak or Chestnut Leaf Oak, is a large, deciduous tree with lovely, colourful foliage. The Chestnut Leaved Oak will typically grow to 30 m tall and 15 m wide with a rounded, open growth habit. The foliage emerges light green in spring, ages to dark green, then develops impressive yellow and brown tones in autumn before falling. Small, yellow-green flowers in spring produce brown acorns in autumn. Quercus castaneifolia is ideal for large gardens and parks, as a shade tree, or for planting anywhere the beautiful autumn colours can be appreciated.
