Quercus laurina
Quercus laurina is grown for its lush foliage and great form. The foliage emerges bronze-red in spring, ages to dark green, then develops impressive yellow and brown tones in autumn before falling. Small, yellow-green flowers in spring produce brown acorns in autumn. This majestic beauty typically grows to 18 m tall and 8 m wide with a rounded crown. Quercus laurina is commonly grown as a specimen in large gardens and parks with the added advantage of fantastic summer shade. It is also now being increasingly used for training along wires as either an espaliered or pleached tree.
