Salix humboldtiana, Humboldt's Willow
Salix humboldtiana, commonly known as Humboldt's Willow, grows as a large, deciduous tree. The slender branches host long, fresh green leaves. In spring the male trees produce showy, woolly, yellow flowers (catkins) with female trees producing smaller, green catkins. It typically grows to 20 m tall and 10 m wide but can easily be trimmed to sizes much less than this. Salix humboldtiana is commonly used for planting around large water bodies or in wetter areas of large gardens.
