Salix tortuosa Aurea, commonly known as the Corkscrew Willow or Tortured Willow Tree, is grown for its interesting, colourful stems and foliage. The golden stems have a contorted nature, hence the common names. The fine and lush foliage emerges mid-green in spring, ages to a darker green, then develops yellow tones in autumn before falling as it grows to about 15 m tall and 8 m wide. Salix tortuosa Aurea is commonly used for planting around water features, grown as a specimen, providing winter interest, or added to a mixed planting in a large garden.
