Sorbus aucuparia Scarlet King is a variety of the commonly known, Mountain Ash, and is a small-sized, deciduous with impressive characteristics. Large clusters of cream-white flowers are produced in spring which result in masses of bright red-orange berries which can remain on the tree into winter. The berries are great for attracting birds. It bears lush, lime green foliage which develops light orange tones in autumn before falling. This tree grows with an upright and rounded crown to about 7 m tall and 5 m wide, and performs best when grown in full sun or on a well-drained site. It will tolerate dry periods, frost, and cool climates, and some wind, though will produce a better formed tree if protected while it establishes.
