Turepo, Large Leaved Milk Tree
Streblus banksii, commonly known as Turepo, is a NZ native tree that grows to about 12 m tall and 4 m wide. It has a spreading canopy atop a short, stout trunk. The glossy green leaves on juvenile plants are 2-6 cm long and become larger as the tree matures. In spring, plants produce green-yellow flowers which are followed by fleshy red berries. Streblus banksii is commonly used for revegetation plantings or included in large, native gardens.
