Syzygium Obelisk Details

Syzygium australe Obelisk, commonly known as Lilly Pilly, is a vigorous shrub grown for its attractive and colourful foliage. New foliage is a stunning, bright-red colour and ages to become dark green which gives the plant dual colouring during active growth periods. The glossy leaves are produced on a dense network of branches and are complemented with small and fragrant, white flowers in summer. Left untrimmed this tree will grow to 8 m tall and 2.5 m wide though is often trimmed to much smaller sizes which encourages new growth. It grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of dry periods, frost, cool climates, and coastal environments. Syzygium Obelisk is commonly used for hedging and screening, planted as a backdrop for smaller plants, grown as specimen, included in a mixed planting, planted around outdoor living areas, or maintained in a container.
