Elm Tree, Ulmus hollandica Groeneveld, Groeneveld
Ulmus hollandica Groeneveld is a Dutch Elm tree that is grown for its colourful foliage. The leaves emerge a fresh green colour in spring, age to become dark green, then develop golden-yellow tones in autumn before falling. It grows with an upright and pyramidal habit to about 20 m tall and 8 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site with some shelter. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, poor soils, and dry periods. Ulmus hollandica Groeneveld is commonly grown as a specimen or used in avenue plantings.
