Ulmus hollandica Jacqueline Hillier Details

Ulmus Hollandica Jacqueline Hillier is one of the Dutch Elms grown for its small stature and interesting foliage. The small leaves emerge a fresh green colour in spring, age to become dark green, then develop colourful orange tones in autumn before falling. They are somewhat unusual in that they are formed with a distinctive herringbone pattern and held very densely. It grows with an upright and broad habit to about 3 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is positioned in full sun on a well-drained site with some shelter. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, poor soils, and dry periods. Ulmus Jacqueline Hillier is commonly grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting, maintained in a courtyard garden, or planted around outdoor living areas.
