Adiantum aethiopicum, commonly known as the Maidenhair Fern, is grown for its attractive and soft-looking foliage. The mid-green fronds emerge from a clump and are held both densely and gracefully. In the right conditions this NZ native will eventually reach 50 cm tall and the same wide, but it often only gets to just 25 cm tall and the same wide when grown indoors in a pot. Trailing stems host small green leaves that have a fury edge and are held densely. Clusters of mauve-coloured flowers are produced in summer as it grows to 15 cm tall and 40 cm wide. Cyanotis somaliensis is commonly grown as a potted plant indoors and is well suited to office environments. It can be grown outdoors where conditions favour.
